Jógovna is an unique, authentic and boutique yoga studio in Prague, founded with the main idea.
Let's reconnect.
Our story
We believe that things happen at the right time and in the right way. That's why we weren't surprised that in 2016, we got a space in Jindřišská Street in Prague 1 that we knew was the right fit from the start. Old parquet floors and high ceiling in the hall, natural clay plaster on the walls, white cast floor and old industrial lighting in the reception area. As soon as we walked in, we knew exactly what we wanted the Jógovna to look like and that we wanted to not only keep most of what the space had to offer, but also accentuate it, adding thoughtful pieces of furniture such as a unique large table in the reception area connected to more ordinary material for the library, a shop, and yoga mat holders, complemented by metal lockers in the changing rooms.
Everything was fine-tuned to the last detail with sustainability as the main idea. And so a space was created, Jógovna, a meeting place under the hands of Milan Konečný and KON Studio. It is actually
a family project, because Milan Konečný is the father of the founder of the Yoga Studio, Šarka Vojáčková... And so, from an online platform called Jógovna, where Šárka was presenting the classes and workshops, a unique and authentic yoga studio in Prague and then the first official place of Jivamukti yoga in the Czech Republic
was created.
LOKAH SAMASTAH SUKHINO BHAVANTU
May all beings everywhere be happy and free, and may the thoughts, words, and actions of my own life contribute in some way to that happiness and to that freedom for all.
And how? Through our practice. Through reconnecting to ourselves. That's the first important step. Then we can connect to everyone around us. Through the practice of yoga, the stained glass window through which we look out changes. Suddenly you look through the eyes of compassion... Can you imagine such a reality around you?
We do, and that's the world we want to live in. Do you?
JIVAMUKTI YOGA IS A PATH TO ENLIGHTENMENT THROUGH COMPASSION FOR ALL BEINGS. THE JIVAMUKTI METHOD IS BASED ON THE ORIGINAL MEANING OF THE SANSKRIT WORD ASANA AS "SEAT, CONNECTION" - RELATIONSHIP TO THE EARTH. AND THE EARTH IMPLIES ALL LIFE. JIVAMUKTI YOGA AIMS TO TRANSMIT AND TEACH YOGA AS AN ETHICAL AND SPIRITUAL PRACTICE.
Jivamukti
Referring to Patanjali's Yoga Sutras, which state that asana should be sthira and sukham, Jivamukti Yoga states that one's relationship with others (asana) should be mutually beneficial and should come from a consistent (sthira) place of joy and happiness (sukham). It is a radical idea that, when put into practice, transforms the practice of asana into something more than mere physical exercise to keep the body fit or to increase strength or flexibility. The practice of asana becomes a practice and a way to improve our relationship with ourselves and with everyone else, not only people, but also animals and planet Earth. A way to come to the dissolution of the feeling of separateness, the realization of the unity of being, the discovery of lasting happiness.
THE BASIC PHILOSOPHY OF JIVAMUKTI YOGA IS EXPRESSED THROUGH FIVE PILLARS:
AHIMSA
Nonviolence
Let us live in such a way that we do no harm to any living being. Let us live compassionately and extend that compassion to everyone around us. To people. Near and far. To those we love, but also to those we've had or are having trouble with. Let's extend that compassion to animals, trees, nature. To all of Mother Earth. Let us live sustainably and in love. Let us be spiritual activists. BECAUSE THERE IS NO PLANET B.
We are building a community that offers acceptance, understanding, non-discrimination, and yoga – in other words, unity. We perceive that a safe and loving community, a satsang, is something we need now more than ever. Become a part of us.
Building a vibrant community
It's up to you how you want to connect with us..
